The Whirlwind Musings of a Reformed Catholic

"The Law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes." -- Psalm 19:7-8 (ESV) --

TO SGT. SEAVEY AND GENERAL WAGNER

Thank you, Sgt. Seavey and and General Wagner, wherever you are, for telling off Reps. Jim Moran and John Murtha.

And for those who are thinking hypocrite, well, again, my three concerns:

1. unconstitutional war (easily rectified if Bush and Congress weren't such wimps)
2. disagree with overall stategy to bring "democracy" to Iraq
3. disagree with military strategy (search and destroy on a wide scale as opposed to creating safe zones...this is the heirarchy's fault)

However, now that they are there, I will not disparage these men and women who are giving their lives and limbs for something they believe is correct. I am not going to denegrate them by claiming to be smarter than they are because of issue #1 above and that they are too dumb to understand the constitution. They are not dumb. I am not going to contribute to demoralizing their morale like others seem willing to do, such as Mama Moonbat herself, who has all but admitted her son was too stupid to realize the "lies" before he re-enlisted in the military. Now some are thinking, "then why don't you go enlist?" Well, um, becuase I'd be a threat to the troops, unless I went to the academy to be an officer, and even then, I'd probably still be a threat becuase I would not get out of basic training.

Again, thanks.

BOLO

"You sick son of a b----. You're supposed to stand for something! You're supposed to protect people, but instead, you rape and f--- them."

--Arthur Kirkland (portrayed by Al Pacino)
From the Motion Picture, "...and justice for all" (1979)

In that memorable scene, Kirkland outs a judge who is accused of raping and beating a woman in open court because he has literally had it with the judicial system and the games people play within the system.

Those words could easily have been stated for the judge who let this guy, Emanuel Carlos Veiga, go free on bond. The Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff's Dept. had received dozens of reports of sexual assault near Disneyworld. When they got a lead in the case, they were able to break case and arrest Veiga on charges of molestation. However, inexplicably, bail was granted and the subject posted a $72,500 bond, which meant it only took 10% to free him. I don't know the FLorida bail schedule, but to compare, the bail schedule for someone accused of child molestation in my county is $100,000; and that is before going to court. In other words, you can bail out that night on $100,000 prior to your first appearance in court. If you do not post bail, then at court, the judge may reduce, increase, or release the subject on his own recognizance to appear later. Bail is nearly always increased for this kind of a crime, or it outright revoked.

Furthermore, the judge stated that Veiga could be placed on house arrest so that he could tend to his business. He was to wear a monitoring device. 6 weeks later, he cut off that device, and he hasn't been seen since.

If anyone has seen Veiga, obviously they should call the Orange County Sheriff's Department, America'a Most Wanted, or 911. He can be anywhere, and like most sexual predators, he will strike again; and when he does, make sure to send a letter to her thanking her for allowing a monster to go free.

Now of course, Veiga is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. However, given the seriousness of the crime, people, even factually innocent people, are held over for trial not because they are to be humiliated, but because they may decide to flee, and when that happens, justice is denied to everyone. Is $8,000 enough to sacrifice for freedom to move about and sexually assault more children? If the urge is strong enough, then you bet it is.
